LD Seating opens its reconstructed showroom in Prague
The Czech family-owned company, LD Seating, a leading European seating furniture maker, has opened its reconstructed showroom on Rohanské nábřeží in Prague. The reconstruction, which was designed by archicraft, an architectural studio based in Prague’s Holešovice quarter, has refashioned the showroom into a modern and visually attractive place, perfectly underlining the quality and variety of the premium seating furniture brand.
The main objective of the project was to create an environment, which would be a modern, simple but attractive place for presenting LD Seating’s products. “We had been thinking of refashioning our showroom for some time. So, when archicraft’s Miroslav Krátký approached us and offered a new reconstruction design, we agreed immediately.. We prepared the assignment and looked forward to seeing the design. The first version that archicraft’s architects presented exactly matched our idea,” says Jakub Huráb, LD Seating’s Executive Manager.
In creating the assignment, LD Seating were inspired by the showrooms of famous brands in London’s Clerkenwell area, which is a significant international centre of design. “An important thing for us was the design of the shop windows, which had been unused before the reconstruction. We wanted mostly neutral colours in the showroom because our products themselves are colourful enough. Another important aspect was the lighting for the products,” explains Jakub Huráb.
Emphasis on product lighting and presentation
The new concept of the showroom consists in cultivated artificial lighting and in the space being divided into clusters, which allow different types of furniture and design families to stand out and to be arranged more clearly. “We managed to divide the space by using light and semi transparent textile partitions and curtains in light natural shades,” explains archicraft’s founder, Miroslav Krátký. “The central part of the showroom was created by using a lit-up ceiling. The main part is lit by LED panels and bars with spotlights, imitating the atmosphere of a theatre. The floor is covered with woven vinyl, which changes into darker colours in the exposition part.”
With regard to the showroom being situated in a corner house with windows facing the street, it was necessary to optimize the shop window not only for the eyes of pedestrians but also for the passing cars. The furniture in the window is placed on pedestals of different heights and it looks nicely playful. The interior is divided from the exterior by a textile curtain.
The individual products are placed either on the floor or on a platform, so they can he tried out immediately. The products inside the showroom are placed on minimalist shelves, so customers can view and touch them as much as they want to.
“Working with archicraft and with Unlimit Db, who reconstructed the showroom, was a great experience. We absolutely trusted both teams and, without any substantial objection on our part, they created an interesting place where our products stand out beautifully. We are really happy about our new showroom. And we would like to invite everybody to come and check it out,” says Jakub Huráb.
