Reminiscent of a luxury penthouse or boutique hotel, the newly occupied headquarters of leading property investment firm Memocorp sits atop the jewel of their property portfolio at 259 George St in the heart of Sydney’s financial district, designed by interior design practice The Stella Collective. Residing on the highest Level 42 of the prestigious tower, The wrap around 360 degree views showcase the intoxicating panorama of Sydney’s skyline and endless sunlight which framed the narrative for our concept of ‘Let the light in’.
Stella focused on creating a warm domestic penthouse feel that blurred the lines of genuine hospitality and workplace, encouraging the feeling of freedom and open space. Our ‘mantra’, feel good finishes & crafted joinery, banishing the con-formative corporate traditions of an office space. Memocorp office represents a throwing out of the design rules of the past in corporate life to re-interpret the way we interact with our work place. There are defined areas to eat, work, play and unwind, yet all feels connected.
Light flows from room use, large steel framed glazing replacing the typical ‘shutting off’ of meeting rooms, creating light-filled and joyous spaces, whilst also allowing the chance to have privacy if and when required. There’s a gym, where yoga matts can be laid for morning stretches, full commercial kitchen for party throwing and events, and all desks are bathed in abundant natural light, revitalising the soul. The experience far from what we are used to in commercial offices - promoting healthy living and working with a smile. The Stella Collective placing wellness at work centre-stage.
The scope of work traversed the entire 1,000 square metre space, painstakingly designing every detail, from the custom lift indicator lights, to the ventilation grills. This approach allowed for a strict palette that reflects a feeling of wellbeing and attention to detail at every turn. Where natural light was not possible in the bathrooms Stella created a custom landscape wallpaper using Brooke Holm’s imagery of the Nevada desert as the back drop to the scene, creating a sensory, moody, meditative environment.
A moment of calm,... Nurturing the senses and inspiring the mind in the work place.
