Leveraging years of expertise in high-quality furniture production, Wewood is casting a spotlight on Portuguese craftsmanship and contemporary, durable woodwork with the launch of its flagship store in Porto and, soon, in Lisbon.
‘Less is more,’ we often hear. Finding beauty in simplicity, designer Alain Gilles blends straight lines with gentle curves in his Re-Form tables for Wewood – a trio of solid, robust volumes adaptable for modular use or as standalone pieces.
Whether for storing cherished items or simply serving as multi-use furniture, sideboards are essential companions in the home. Wewood’s Brutalist sideboard, designed by Erno Dierckx, combines such functionality with a raw, clean design.

Next year, Portugal’s Wewood celebrates ten years in business and with a new design director Philipp Grundhöfer in place, the future also looks bright for the wood furniture specialist.
Equally at home in domestic or hospitality settings, Wewood’s David Girelli-designed lounge chair Loop provides the ideal antidote to long hours of deskwork.
Don’t be fooled by the name. Certainly, Wewood’s furniture has wood at its core, but this is complemented by a locally sourced and crafted material palette that includes cork, leather and marble.

With a heritage in joinery that stretches back five decades, Porto-based family business Wewood is on a mission to put Portuguese furniture design firmly on the international design map.
Named after the boats which traditionally transported wine barrels from countryside to coast, the design of Wewood’s sculptural Rabelo sofa embraces Portugal’s rich history and culture.
In lieu of Spring season fairs this year, Portuguese furniture manufacturer Wewood has created an inspirational in-house publication with which to spark the imaginations of architects and planners.
