Natural stone, metal, wood, glass, leather and now fabric: since Dr Peter Draenert created the first table out of a slab of 180 million-year-old Swabian oil shale that he found in a barn and chrome skids that he made himself at an uncle’s metalworking firm, the Swabian furniture business’s offering has expanded considerably. It reflects the conviction of the founder’s son, Patric Draenert, who has been guiding the company’s fortunes since 2002, that a piece of furniture is an expression of its owner’s personality.

The premium manufacturer has always made individual configuration options a top priority, for instance, as is reflected not just in the wide choice of materials available but by the fact that Draenert unites all the crafts and skills necessary to fulfil its customers’ requirements to its own exacting standards of quality and combines them under one roof. 

Traditional craftsmanship plays just as important a role in that as technical innovativeness and the quest for unique and distinctive design that generates recognition – which is why pieces by Draenert are featured in the collections of international museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The company aspires to sense its clientele’s wants and needs as a way of keeping its finger firmly on the pulse of the times. This is also reflected in the new textile offering, which consists of four top-quality fabric collections that can be used to cover the chairs made by the in-house upholstery workshop and are the perfect complement to the existing range of leathers.

They add yet another sophisticated facet to a furniture range that has been continuously refined ever since the company’s founding. Just like what happens when a slab of natural stone is polished to perfection to create an exclusive top for the new outdoor tables.
