RONALD SCHMITT DESIGN creates coffee tables and dining room furnishings with striking lines and intelligent additional functions.
Classic: if the user wants to change the relative position of the two main panels of the "K500" coffee table (design: Matthias Fischer), he simply moves one of them by hand; the other is steered into place by a concealed synchronised mechanism

×"We've been very courageous about seizing our opportunities and are expanding our collections with new designs and functions," reports Claus Lenzmann, Managing Partner of Ronald Schmitt Design GmbH. He looks over to Managing Director Dr. Andreas Wiese, who nods in agreement. Lenzmann and Wiese took up their posts in early 2013 with the aim of redeveloping the firm's potential. Ronald Schmitt Tische – founded back in 1958 – became Ronald Schmitt Design. The change of name is an unequivocal declaration of belief in both compelling forms and perfect functions.
Renowned designers such as Peter Maly, Rolf Heide and Martin Ballendat create dining tables, coffee tables and chairs for Ronald Schmitt. "But we believe in the potential of young designers too," emphasises Lenzmann.
Integrated approach: "Ponte", a solid wood table by Peter Maly, measures 240 x 90 cm, is available in walnut or oak and complemented by a chair family of the same name. The rounded edge of the narrow ends adds a very striking detail

×Ronald Schmitt stands for authoritative expertise in the field of tables with special functions and upholstered chairs, which are sold via selected retailers. The intelligent functionality of the products from Ronald Schmitt Design is captivating: coffee tables that can be transformed into a dining table at the push of a button, tabletops that can be moved aside to provide access to storage space without having to clear the table first, and dining tables that can be extended effortlessly. These features in themselves are enough to constitute a unique selling proposition. In combination with the clear-cut design, they exemplify the class Ronald Schmitt stands for. "The high standard of quality and durability isn't just a tradition, it's our benchmark for the future too," promises Managing Director Dr. Andreas Wiese. All the furniture is hand-crafted and finished in Eberbach am Neckar, where each and every stage of the process is conducted with the precision that comes from experience.
Light-footed: Besides a pull-out function, the "Aja" dining table designed by Kressel & Schelle provides plenty of legroom as well – even at the two ends

×Perfected: thanks to its newly developed hinge, the folding panel of "Access" is now the same thickness as the main tabletop. The dining table by Martin Ballendat is available in various lengths (150, 170, 190 and 210 cm) with a 70-cm extension

×The seasoned team of around 70 employees is the backbone of the company. The collection consists of approximately 50 different tables and chairs. Each model offers scope for individualisation in the form of various material and colour options. Customers can choose their own personal style from amongst the different types of glass and stone, fine woods, metal or HPL finishes lacquered in shades that range from subtle all the way to jazzy, as well as an extensive collection of leathers and textiles. The latest product development, a new folding hinge, has already been patented and sets new standards for extending glass tables: thanks to the special mechanism, the fold-out panel can be just as thin as the main tabletop. "The absence of a supporting panel makes the table look even lighter and more graceful," says tech-savvy Managing Director Wiese. Another fitting with a special function adds a new quality to pull-out tables with a central base by reducing the depth of the folding manoeuvre. Perfect mechanisms for flawless aesthetics.
