×Good, healthy sleep isn’t something we can take for granted, as Balthasar Hüsler found out the hard way many years ago. In 1982, after years of suffering from back pain, he decided to create a bed geared entirely towards his own needs. And since necessity is the mother of invention, he came up with the Hüsler bed system, which now helps people all over the world get a better night’s sleep. Consisting of four layers – the frame insert, the Liforma spring element, the natural latex mattress and the overlay – the bed provides unique comfort and ensures an orthopaedically correct position during sleep. The secret recipe is based on the special slat system, consisting of what Hüsler calls “trimelles”.
Each individual slat is made of three vertically glued strips of solid wood. In combination with the latex support points, the trimelles ensure an even degree of springiness across the entire surface. The slatted units are assembled at a sheltered workshop nearby. Each solid wood bed frame is totally free of metal parts. And Hüsler Nest offers its customers another important benefit too: every single component can be renewed and is straightforward to replace. As a result, a Hüsler Nest is a loyal companion that will accompany its user for many years. And that’s a crucial aspect because, as general manager Adrian Hüsler knows, people have started attaching more importance to sleep again: “Customers have become more demanding: nowadays they pay a lot more attention to what a bed is made of and how it is constructed.”
Adrian Hüsler took the business over from his father in 2000. But apart from optimising a few details, the company’s philosophy and the bed system have remained virtually unchanged since the outset. Hüsler Nest and its quality label continue to stand for sustainably produced and healthy materials. “It’s great to work with a product that does people good. Healthy sleep is just as important as a healthy diet, so I’m one hundred percent behind it”, says Adrian Hüsler.
The heart of the bed system: the trimelles adapt to the user’s body – independently of his weight, size and anatomy.

×HÜSLER NEST: There’s a fascinating story behind the successful family-run business and how it came to be founded: in 1982, after suffering with a bad back for years, Balthasar Hüsler decided to develop a new bed system. Today the company is managed by Adrian Hüsler, the second generation of his family to run the business. Until 2016, the offices and warehouse were in Oberbipp and the production site in Zuchwil. After an intense search, Hüsler Nest AG managed to find a suitable location in Grenchen that now houses the entire company under the same roof. The offices and warehouse moved to Grenchen at the end of August and will be joined by the production facility in spring 2017.
