Light plays a special role in architecture – it can highlight it and make it the centre of interest, as well as keep it subtly in the background and create atmospheres. &Costa juggles these two opposing approaches, thereby creating complex products that resemble a light installation.
&Costa is an Italian company that has been active in the lighting industry since 2000. The company focuses on lighting research and lighting design in order to generate the highest-possible well-being within architectural spaces. The intuition and passion with which the multidisciplinary team works has resulted in it gaining a broad expertise within just a few years. Technical know-how, knowledge about material properties, the focus on details and the ability to work with different designers together make up the profile of &Costa. The company stands for timeless and unobtrusive design, in keeping with craftsmanship and far away from mass production techniques. In addition, it promotes both the development of new products and work with all kinds of materials, from leather to glass. Customers include hotels, restaurants and architects with complex requirements. The company’s newest reference project is the “W“ Hotel in Amsterdam, the Wyndham Grand Frankfurt and the “W“ Hotel in Tel Aviv. However, they are also installing their lighting concepts in working areas, restaurants and residential projects.
The Circus collection epitomizes &Costa’s portfolio. It is a new system for architectural lighting with an integrated acoustic tool. The lamps are versatile in terms of use and can be used in different-size and -function rooms. They combine the latest LED technology with innovative acoustic panels. The Circus collection encompasses four different shapes: Circus Ring, Circus Linear, Circus Square, and Circus Rectangular. The acoustic panel is made of replaceable 3D embossed fabric. On request, colours other than the standard colours of black and white can be supplied. The LED strips are housed in a white or black aluminium frame with an opaque cover, which gently scatters the light. Lighting and acoustic panels consequently ensure maximum spatial well-being through precise design.
