Downtown Design (27-30 October, 2015), the region’s leading, quality-driven design trade fair, moves to the new Dubai Design District (d3) and becomes the commercial centrepiece of the inaugural Dubai Design Week.
Now in its third year, Downtown Design has doubled in size (now 3,000 m2) to present a carefully edited roster of over 85 established and emerging brands, across a variety of product categories including: furniture, lighting, bathrooms, kitchens, textiles and accessories.
Fostering greater interaction, connectivity and commercial opportunity, Downtown Design is dedicated to providing a dynamic environment for buyers and brands to do business easily and efficiently. Buyers will be able to find brands such as Arclinea,Herman Miller, Lema and Rolf Benz as well as newcomers Galanter & Jones, Ginger & Jagger, Muubs and Samovar.
The 2015 edition of Downtown Design will also unveil ‘Destination’. A key Dubai Design Week initiative, ‘Destination’ is a unique alliance with six international Design Weeks: Beijing, Helsinki, Istanbul, Melbourne, Mexico City and San Fransisco. Each will present three of their most exciting emerging brands for the first time on the global stage, allowing visitors to discover innovative new talent from around the world. Highlighting Dubai's role as a platform for promoting young designers, the showcase will enable these smaller, creative design brands to connect with the region's trade professionals and key influencers.
Established by Art Dubai Group in partnership with d3 andDubai Design and Fashion Council and, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, Dubai Design Week creates a cultural focus for design with the region’s leading design fair, Downtown Design, at its heart. The geographical position of Dubai makes it an ideal hub for international designers and brands to take advantage of the city, and its newly constructed design district as an ideal location for showcase design innovation and new product.
