Transcending reflections: Edra’s Jubilé mirror

Edra’s Jubilé mirror designed by the Campana brothers is a celebration. Its 25 irregular fragments of glass symbolise the 25th Campana brothers’ design for Edra. It also represents a celebration of the life of Fernando Campana, who passed away in November 2022 – Jubilé marks the very last design of the Campana Brothers for Edra.

Appropriate for our current era of individuality, the mirror mounted on an aluminium structure is not only a functional object, but a work of art. Its irregular and manually bevelled 149 edges create extraordinary textures and reflections, and it can be used standing or wall mounted vertically or horizontally.

While characterful, Jubilé is also a very pure and simple response to manipulating the simple material of mirrored glass, following the philosophy of the Campana brothers. ‘We don’t have a notebook, we don’t start from drawing, but we always start with manual skills, with the idea of playing. The material is always a challenge, a passion, to create hybrids and alienation,’ says Humberto Campana.

As a result, while bold in its design, it is also timeless. The Jubilé mirror feels appropriate in both historical, modern and contemporary interiors – at the Palazzo Durini (the Edra showroom in Milan), a Modernist villa or urban apartment. ‘Each work is a celebration of life. I don’t really think about the space it will inhabit, because no matter where it ends up, that’s the main message it will carry with it,’ says Humberto.
