When we talk about trends today, it doesn’t necessarily mean that what already exists should be constantly replaced by something new, despite the perception that trends are often short-lived. On the contrary, consistency itself has become a trend. Designers are more aware than ever of their responsibility to create interiors that are both high quality and longevity in style. EGGER has also recognised this, and since this year, the Decorative Collection 24+ prioritises timelessness: the best designs remain in the collection long term, while some decors may expand the range through updates – or eventually, though not before four years, be phased out. The Austrian wood-based material manufacturer achieves both: a collection of decors that is always up to date, yet also strives for timelessness.

A means of communicating trends

A decisive key to design success lies in the skilful interplay of decors. And because there are quite a few possible combinations for all the different surface textures, decors and colours, EGGER simplifies the selection process with the help of its innovative Capsule concept. This is a new form of decor advice – freely accessible and available online at any time – that supports various applications, trend themes, and combination possibilities inspired by the principle of the ‘Capsule Wardrobe’ in fashion. The six Capsules so far showcase curated decor recommendations from the Decorative Collection 24+. Much like in fashion, EGGER’s Capsules are based on the idea of combining decors strategically and flexibly within a predefined palette.

‘It is a practical tool that inspires a design direction and can therefore support the start of a project’

From craftspeople to interior architecture and design experts, the concept offers both inspiration and direction, making it easier to realise trending interior ideas. The EGGER Capsule concept is more than just a tool for communicating trends. ‘It is a practical tool that inspires a design direction and can therefore support the start of a project or the first discussion with the client,’ explains EGGER’s decor management team. When developing and refining the Capsules, the decor management team also takes into account key product themes and trade fair innovations that are relevant to current design trends.

The six current Capsules

One example: this year's Milan Furniture Fair and Design Week in the heart of the Italian metropolis inspired the Capsule ‘Milano – Evolving Harmony’, with harmonious tone-on-tone combinations resulting from the interplay of travertine, neutral solid colours and elegant, authentic wood finishes. With ‘Muted Greens’, EGGER embraces the trend towards biophilic design. Warm, matt and muted shades of green combined with natural light-coloured wood decors define this Capsule.

The Capsule ‘Hospitality – Warm Materials’ is specifically designed for public spaces, favouring warm woods and natural materials to create a calm atmosphere. Stone textures in warm colour tones, combined with dark solid colours, can give spaces an overall high quality feel. In contrast, ‘Style with Value’ emphasises the connection with nature and well-being through authentic imitations. ‘Simplicity Redefined’ stands for a timeless, minimalist design, while ‘Design on Top’ emphasises the importance of robust, aesthetic horizontal surfaces.

With the Capsule concept, EGGER will continue to provide new impulses in the future – the six existing Capsules will be continuously followed by new ones, thus picking up on current design trends. The leading wood-based material manufacturer skilfully selects from a wide range of available designs, surfaces and colours to offer precise combinations that inspire. This approach gives the Decorative Collection 24+ a spatial perspective and a compelling presence, even before it is allowed to prove itself and its qualities through a digital visualisation or a physical mood board.
