Special ēdition: Time & Style x De Padova

Every year, Italian furniture outfit Boffi|DePadova invites an international brand to collaborate on a guest collection. Who better to understand the unique international history and personality of Boffi|DePadova, than the traditional solid wood craftspeople from Time & Style, a Japanese design company that started in Germany.

Inspired by the traditional Japanese living concept of simple but detailed high-quality furniture with enhanced functionality, standout pieces from the Time & Style ēdition collection include the Silent range of solid wood storage cabinets, drawers and wardrobes, as well as the traditional Bombori light.

The Silent cabinet is hand-built with solid timber from the forests of Hokkaido, northern Japan. The area’s freezing winters slow the growth of trees to create an ultra-dense oak. Strong and silent, the cabinet features a surrounding glass frame that encourages light to flood into all corners and eliminate dark spots, while its double sliding doors provide a central storage point, creating a natural but functional divider alongside both living and dining spaces.

The Bombori light, meanwhile, brings traditional Japanese culture to the modern international interiors market. It’s a contemporary version of an Edo-period andon light, stretching handmade Mino washi paper over a solid Akita cedar frame, instead of bamboo. Although still light and simple, its stable form means Bombori can sit safely, as tradition dictates, on the earthen floor. Or they can be hung as pendants to give a warm, nostalgic glow.

These pieces, along with the rest of the ēdition collection, bring with them captivating and personal stories of traditional Japanese culture, combined with Boffi|De Padova’s characteristic subtlety and confidence.
