×Light + Building, the leading international trade fair for lighting, design and intelligent building technology, will open its doors in Frankfurt once again on 18 March 2018. Visitors will be offered a multifaceted program covering a broad spectrum, ranging from highly technical to design-related topics. One of the focal points of this year’s presentation is security technology, which plays an increasingly important role in the construction of modern, smart buildings today. Less technically oriented, but all the more creative is the Trendforum, at which home design trends for the 2018/2019 season will be featured.
People have grown much more security-conscious when it comes to their living and working environments in recent years, and the demand for electronic security technology has risen accordingly. Featuring presentations by suppliers from the security technology and building automation segments, the Intersec Forum and the new special show entitled “Secure – Connected Security in Buildings,” Halle 9.1 is the center for integrated building technology.

×With reference to three real sample applications (from the hotel, industry and office fields), visitors to the special show will learn how the economic efficiency of a building can be enhanced and how users’ security requirements and individual needs can be met with the aid of technical solutions. An essential prerequisite is the effective networking of technical security systems and their integration within entire building engineering system. For only then does a building become truly smart and capable of offering added value for the user. Within the context of the “Secure” show, visitors will experience how these interfaces between individual trades work and what options for digitized building automation technology the market has to offer. In addition, leading firms in the security technology and home and building automation markets will be demonstrating their innovations in other halls on the trade fair grounds. Roughly 150 suppliers of security technology will be represented at Light + Building.
Over 2,600 exhibitors will be presenting their most recent products and technologies in the field of security and building automation at this trade fair

×Trendforum
The Trendforum pursues an entirely different focus, which includes ideas and answers to the question of how we will be living and furnishing our homes in the future. Here, visitors will learn everything there is to know about home design trends for 2018/2019 season. Responsible for the content and realization of the forum is the Stilbüro bora.herke.palmisano of Frankfurt am Main and Berlin. The team has created four so-called home environments in which different styles, living scenarios and selected products will be presented. The program will also be complemented by lectures and guided tours as well as the “Trendspot Design” exhibit in Halle 1, which is specialized in technical, design-oriented lighting fixtures.
“Revive Homeliness" celebrates simplicity and understatement and is one of the four home living environments presented within the context of home living trends for the 2018/2019 season

×The featured home environments “evoke emotions” unite designs meant to imbue our everyday surroundings with emotion. Visitors will learn how to evoke the right mood and the most desirable sense of comfort with the aid of intelligent materials and newly developed products. In contrast, the environment presented under the slogan of “imagine mutation” shifts the focus to the striking and extravagant and features highly expressive designs with a powerful impact that reach beyond the boundaries of the everyday and assume the character of works of art.
Those who are less courageous and less inclined to embrace distinctive extravagance but favor simplicity and understatement instead are likely to feel more comfortable with “revive homeliness.” This trend celebrates simplicity and creates a homey atmosphere with plain, unobtrusive and unpretentious designs bathed in warm, subdued light. Finally, the “create history” environment comes across as nostalgic yet highly functional. The room design concept strives to evoke a kind of “chamber-of-wonders flair” that is achieved with antiques and individual items from various different periods. The combination with state-of-the-art technologies creates a fascinating contrast that gives totally new emphasis to the vintage style.
Under this year’s motto – “Vernetzt – Sicher – Komfortabel” (Integrated – Secure – Comfortable” – Light + Building will be presenting future-oriented technologies, intelligent and integrated solutions for smart buildings and current design trends in the lighting market from 18 to 23. March 2018. Thus the show will offer a broad spectrum of topics, trends and products for the design of contemporary living and working areas.
