×Grand appearance for fresh design
Until April 1, 2016, design students and young designers who completed their studies on or after January 1, 2013, are called to submit their ideas for innovative outdoor living products. The free participation is worth the effort in any case because the unique youngstar award is not only endowed with attractive prize money, but also offers the best designers an exclusive platform to display their concepts at the world’s leading garden trade fair.
“We are pleased to record more and more submissions every year and are happy to have witty, excellent concepts among the applications over and over again. This shows how creative young designers are and they have earned a platform, that lets their designs shine and speak for themselves,” states Katrin Schön, project manager spoga+gafa at Koelnmesse. “I am already wondering what we will get to see this year.”

×Road to success: How to become a youngstar
Young designers – individuals and groups of up to three – who want to participate can submit their prototypes until April 1, 2016. They will be judged by an international expert panel relating to five categories: overall concept, originality of design, conceptual and visionary quality, functionality/functional quality and design & presentation. The 15 most creative ideas selected by the jury will then be showcased in a special exhibition at garden unique. The jury will reward three out of the 15 showcased designs with the unique youngstar award; the visitors of the garden unique website will select the additional audience award via online voting. The winners are going to be announced and awarded on the first trade fair day. They can look forward to a prize money to the total value of 7,000 Euro (3,000 Euro for first, 2,000 Euro for second and 1,000 Euro for third place, 1,000 Euro for the audience award).
The attention, which the young designers gain for their works through their participation in the competition is priceless: the selected designs will be displayed during the entire trade fair and can be used as a springboard for the next career steps – more win-win is not possible. Do not miss the opportunity to become the next unique youngstar!
