And the winner is…: the Vanceva World of Color Awards 2020

Vanceva® World of Color Awards™ 2020 honours projects that most innovatively demonstrate creativity in the use of coloured laminated glass on finished buildings – both inside and out.

The Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology in the city of Utrecht has a bridge connecting the existing children's hospital to the newly-built adult cancer centre. Five metres above the ground, the 160m-long bridge has a glass surface of 1258m²

A call for the best uses of coloured laminated glass is going out to the world’s most innovative architects and designers. The 2020 Vanceva® World of Color Awards™ will honour those projects which demonstrate this aesthetic on completed buildings – indoors and out. As increasing number of architects and designers feature coloured laminated glass in their projects, these biennial awards are becoming ever more significant.

Professional architects, interior designers, glass fabricators, engineers and other industry professionals have until 29 February 2020 to upload basic project information in their own language to www.vanceva.com/woca/submit-a-project. The awards are free to enter.

Vanceva allows for up to four coloured filters to be set between two panes of glass

The 2020 jury comprises Ammar Al Assam, chief executive officer of international firm Dewan Architects & Engineers; Thomas Bögl, partner and director architect of LIAG architecten en bouwadviseurs in the Netherlands; Paul Eis, an architectural photographer known for shooting buildings all over the world, then digitally colourising their facades; Kateri Knapp, senior façade engineer at international engineering firm Arup; and Benjamin Wright, artistic director at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington, USA.

Priya Kalsi, global market segment manager for the Vanceva Colors Interlayer System, explains the value of the awards: ‘This is a wonderful opportunity for architects, interior designers and other industry professionals to showcase their glass-inspired creations in a format that brings together an international audience of their colleagues and peers, while increasing awareness of glass design practices, principles and possibilities.’

Winners are announced in July 2020, and will be formally recognized at the Glasstec International Trade Show in Düsseldorf, Germany, in October 2020.
