In the ninth and penultimate part of our ISH preview of new products, follow us on a morning walk in the woods – with a bathroom collection by Kaschkasch for Villeroy & Boch.
In the northern hemisphere, we are currently experiencing again the reawakening of nature from its winter sleep. Every day during this time of year, new buds appear. Delicate blossoms are touched by the grazing light of the sun, before giving way to richer, more intense green hues in the space of just a few weeks. It is the time when dewdrops again cover grasses, mosses and leaves to ephemeral effect in the early morning. And such images are also the inspiration for Kaschkasch's new bathroom collection for Villeroy & Boch.
Just as the dewdrops in nature are never identical, each size of the slightly asymmetrical countertop washbasins is intended to have an individual shape
In the creation of the Antao series, the Cologne-based design-duo of Florian Kallus and Sebastian Schneider not only visited the manufacturer's product development studios, they also took to the forest. On morning walks there, so perfect for clearing the mind, they brought back with them the dewdrop as a motif, whose fleeting existence embodies the imperfection that we perceive as the ultimate harmony. How nice to have some of that in one's daily routine.
Villeroy & Boch will be presenting the Antao collection to the public for the first time at the ISH in Frankfurt. We have only been able to see hints of it up to now. It includes washbasins and a bathtub, furniture, mirrors and fittings, all through which the designers' poetic idea can be holistically transferred to the bathroom.
And, just as the dewdrops in nature are never identical, each size of the slightly asymmetrical countertop washbasins is intended to have an individual shape. The fittings are defined by soft contours and the colour palette is also clearly inspired by nature: Matt Almond and Morning Green next to Black and White for the ceramics, and Stone Grey, Leaf Green or Midnight Blue for the furniture.
Villeroy & Boch can be found in Hall 2, Stand A01A at ISH.
