‘When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life,’ asserted Samuel Johnson in 1777. In 2022, the city's eye-watering housing costs would most likely be the cause of this fatigue. Finding the right space on which to stamp one's personality has always represented a challenge, for younger dwellers in particular – falling between the stools of a prohibitively expensive property market on one side, and bland, standardised rental spaces on the other. There are exceptions, though. BoConcept's collaboration on the Apo Kew Bridge Apartments project allows tenants to personally select favoured decorative flavours and furnishings, while the brand's first collaboration with designer Karim Rashid, the Ottawa chair, was designed with cost-accessible design in mind.
