FLATWOVEN COLLECTION
The knot, the mesh, the braid. The Flatwoven rug collection, made on traditional looms, harks back to the art of braiding. This craft goes back a long way and takes on different guises in terms of materials, techniques and sizes depending on the countries in which it is practiced. In Amini’s proposals the weave is in itself a form of decor, the thickness of the yarns defines the patterns, and the consistency of the materials determines the modular texture that repeats itself along the entire surface. Weaves in varying degrees of thickness, yarns and fabrics that come together in the weave, are all key features in these fleece-less, flat woven carpets. Neutral and soft colors also play a part in shaping the character of this classy range, whose proposals are a perfect example of tradition meeting contemporary sensibilities. Just take a look at the thick weaves of Intreccio and Athmos Braided, the heavy braiding and the “rough” exuberance of Bali Wool.
