Tjimkje de Boer lives and works in Amsterdam. In 2007 she graduated from her study interior- & product design at Academy Minerva in Groningen, the Netherlands. After graduation she moved to Amsterdam and founded her own design studio, knapontwerp. Besides that Tjimkje developed her expertise as an interior and product designer for Studio Laurens van Wieringen and as a project manager at De Designpolitie.
Tjimkje observes the world around her with curiosity, inspiring her. Her work is conceptual as well as functional. The objects provide a new perspective, just by looking from a slightly different angle than usual. Mountain tops become monumental lighting objects, buttons are transformed into a chair, and a classic church window is turned into a fashionable tabletop.
