Danish designers Ruth Fabricius and Jesper Gundersen founded Kurage in 1987, and in 2006 the company was acquired by the Danish Fischer Group. The designers’ philosophy is to honour proud art and crafts traditions while simultaneously adopting a playful and curious approach to inventing new, original designs.
Kurage acoustic design solutions
Kurage’s acoustic program was developed with the aim of combining acoustic improvement with design. The range of acoustic products was primarily designed to alleviate excessive reverberation. The program consists of wall panels, table screens, floor screens, and acoustic curtains. All products are delivered with a removable cover, which allows for cleaning and/or replacement. In addition to a range of standard sizes, Kurage offers customized solutions.
Kurage designs and produces hand printed textiles and offers acoustic products in different shades of colored wool with hand printed patterns. The focus is on graphic surfaces, where different pattern designs provide unique solutions in both modern and classic interiors. In addition, we offer different flame retardant fabrics in a variety of plain colors and the possibility to use customer's own material. The acoustic products feature stable aluminum frames, ensuring that every product has a stringent geometric form, thus inspiring creative combinations in rooms and on walls. The products effectively absorb sound and tests show that the products also significantly improve acoustics.
Sustainability
Kurage acoustic design solutions are environmentally sustainable, i.e. sustainability is incorporated throughout the product development phase. Structural engineering has reduced material consumption and the core is made of mineral wool from natural materials. Sustainability is further emphasized by the longevity of the products, which is ensured by the choice of material for the support frame and the easy maintenance of the cover on the various systems. The support frame is made from aluminum, the cover can easily be cleaned and/or replaced and both the frame and core are retained.
