The history

Xilo1934-Piemonte Parquets was established by the Basso Legnami group, a historical distributor of wood founded in 1934. After acquiring a great experience within wood supplying, the group decided to expand its productive cycle in order to satisfy the growing demand for wooden flooring better, in particular the large sized ones. Professionalism is guaranteed by an experience which started over seventy years ago and continuously renews itself with growing enthusiasm. Today the company covers an area of over 110,000 square metres, 30,000 of which are indoor and has a vanguard productive structure. This aspect proves the constant attention for modern technologies in order to support and optimise a patrimony of highly specialised human resources.


The production

Prefinished interior floorings
XILO1934 can offer all interior flooring collections in a prefinished version. The boards are ready to be laid without any finishing treatment, which reduces the time of laying in a remarkable way.

Exterior flooring
Parquets can be used anywhere; there is no limit to its applications! Thus XILO1934 proposes the Decking collection designed for outdoors. All the glamour, the warmth and elegance of a wooden floor that today discovers again the pleasure of open spaces. The floor for outdoors Decking is suitable for every kind of context and it can satisfy the most hard to please requirements of robustness, stability and long lasting.

Xilomoenia
It is a wooden system of protection and cover for vertical civil and industrial building structures with high traspirability which lets the humidity produced inside the living place to spread outside without any obstacles or barriers keeping the walls dry and ensuring the ideal conditions for isolation and conservation.
Furthermore, in Summer creates a real thermal shield to the builduing which is applied, protecting from the heat, while in Winter drastically slows down the cooling of the wall.
Finally Xilomoenia, allows a consistent reduction of sound transfers and using the proprieties of wood gives a high absorption of noise.

An eco-friendly philosophy

Every element of the XILO1934 collections is the outcome of a philosophy which has taken shape through experience and now inspires each choice of the firm and guides its productive activity.
For years we have been working in this sector aiming at producing high quality and innovative products. Quality and innovation are two features which make the company stand out among standard productions.

Selection of raw materials
Raw materials come from controlled forests or plantation wood. Working with wood teaches us to love and respect what Nature laboriously gives to the planet.

The oil that breathes
First of all, the XILO1934 floors are available with oil pre-finish which is made in complete accordance with ecological and bio-building principles. The wood continues to breathe because it is treated with natural oil. This type of finish involves regular maintenance, but this requirement is compensated by the structural, aesthetical and ecological advantages that characterise the floor.

Water based lacquer
In order to satisfy the market requirements in a better way, we supply also a type of lacquer finish, which, as usual, has been conceived in the most complete respect for ecology: the entire lacquering cycle, from primer to finish, is 100% water based. Today all the wood floors that are produced by the company do not contain anything harmful. This type of lacquer has also another great advantage: it can be repaired. The process of the lacquer finish adopted by the company makes it possible to use the most modern nanotechnologies: a method that consists in adding nanotechnological components of inorganic chemistry (such as silica, silicates and metallic oxides) to the resins used for the water based lacquers; it has the effect to increase the resistance of the finish in a remarkable way.

Disposal
Disposal is becoming a more and more important matter within a production which respects ecological principles. XILO1934 floorings are completely biodegradable: from the oil to the lacquer used for the treatment of the surface including the glues used to produce the three layers.

Vinylic glues
Vinylic glues are used in the production of the Xilo1934 three layers. Unlike the other glues, they are neither harmful to the staff who work on the production cycle, nor originate industrial waste difficult to dispose of. Furthermore, they do not emit anything harmful even after laying.

Zero impact
We understood that the resources of the Earth are not endless. Indeed they are. Do not pollute, to put on the market products free of harmful emissions, promote the ecofriendliness, the bio building cannot be just abstract thoughts or the result of a careful marketing strategy. It must be concrete actions. Working with wood teaches us to love and respect what Nature laboriously gives to the planet. We WANT to persue ZERO impact. It should be everybody’s goal. Particularly business companies that compared to the past now have a technology and a greater awareness, to create a truly green product, respecting not only the environment but also human health. What is Formaldehyde?
Formaldehyde (IUPAC name methanal) is a chemical compound with the formula CH2O. It is the simplest aldehyde.

Effects on human health
In view of its widespread use, toxicity, and volatility, exposure to formaldehyde is a significant consideration for human health. Because formaldehyde resins are used in many construction materials it is one of the more common indoor air pollutants. Formaldehyde is classified as a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has determined in 2006 that there is “sufficient evidence” that occupational exposure to formaldehyde causes nasopharyngeal cancer in humans. Furthermore, at concentrations above 0,1 ppm (0,124 mg/m2) in air, formaldehyde can irritate the eyes and mucous membranes, resulting in watery eyes. Publication of D.M. of 10/10/2008 (Italian Ministerial Decree) The Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Policy has published in the Official Gazette of 10/12/2008 the provisions regulating this important issue and that essentially prohibit to put on the market products containing formaldehyde in a class higher than E1.
