For a number of years, the Danes have shown incredible skills in woodwork. We found ourselves missing an alternative, in which other natural materials could be the cornerstone of the design. We are incredibly fond of metals and stone and felt that we were lacking a brand daring enough to experiment with these kinds of materials, whilst still sustaining the simple and applicable Nordic DNA.

For this exact reason we created HANDVÄRK – a high-end brand offering handcrafted furniture in steel, iron, brass, marble and leather of the highest quality. These are all very precious and heavy materials to work with, which means we have had to come up with innovative solutions in regard to the production, assembling and packing of the products. This was hugely important to us, as it’s been the main focus of ours to keep the prices at an attractive level.

31-year old autodidactic designer and architect. Since childhood, Emil Thorup has shown great passion for aesthetics and design. Alongside with his career in TV he has- since 2012- been affiliated with the Danish owned, award winning practice LW Design, with offices in Hong Kong, Dubai & Sao Paolo. He has sketched hotel lobbies and restaurants and developed custom furniture. Most recently he has developed and designed a number of luxurious villas for the prefab giant ’Kalmar Living’ under the name of ‘Nordic Noir’.
