Born in 1933, Annie Tribél-Heinz studied at the L´École National Superieure des Artes Décoratifs, Paris from 1952 to 1956. After doing a three-year practical training in Bombay, India, her main projects were public service buildings for which she also provided interior design: youth centres, leisure facilities, theatres or public libraries in and around Paris. From 1970 she taught interior design for one year at the École Nationale Superieure des Arts Graphiques, Paris, and from 1975 to 1983 at the Ecole Camonda, Paris. She became internationally known in 1983 when she was commissioned by Francois Mitterand to refurnish the guest reception area of the Elysée Palace. Annie Tribél is seventy-four and lives in Paris.
