À propos de Cristina Vezzini
EN SAVOIR PLUS SUR CRISTINA VEZZINI
Profile
Inspired by the structure and geometry of natural forms, Vezzini & Chen Design create unique and decorative objects for interiors. Their work is a dialogue between the simplicity and intricacy that one finds in nature’s own designs and it is this duality that is the source inspiration for Vezzini & Chen’s pieces.
Conversely, Cristina Vezzini was born and raised in a medieval town in Northern Italy while Sheng Tsang Chen’s youth was spent in the green land of Taiwan. Both designers, however, share a deep affinity with nature since they were young.
It is their independent - yet shared memories - full of images relating to seeds, plants, their birth places and the people of their childhoods that are entwined, like time capsules, which are now translated into their ceramic and glass works.
Believing that objects should both evocative and tactile, Vezzini & Chen have created a collection of sculptural lighting pieces that generate a theatrical and dramatic atmosphere.
V&C’s “visual metaphors” express natural growth by encapsulating forms created in fine bone china and glass from which light is directed and diffused.
They hope to further stimulate emotional responses to the work through their texture and combined shapes.
By embracing their roles as designers and makers they ensure that, through the material and the process, they retain the integrity so intrinsic with their connection to nature.
Knowing how fundamental “light” - in all of its numerous ways of illuminating our world- has a direct impact on our daily emotional life, V&C have created these exquisite sculptural yet functional works. They have been designed to be objects of desire that connect viewers back to nature, and hope, while taking a second look, they discover something they might not expect to find.
