DARK stands for an amazing collection in design lighting and has received national and international acclaim. Racking up 52 design-awards over the years, DARK is an incubator for creative ideas that have resulted in original lighting fixtures, lamps, chandeliers, sculptures and light concepts. This year, DARK is taking a highly original turn. In addition to lighting, DARK plans to specialize further in Furniture, bicycles and other objects. The firm’s driving force Marnick Smessaert “it’s been a long held dream to create, aside from lighting, furniture and objects as well and it seems that the time is right to realize it.” In the same way that DARK collaborates with outside designers for their lighting, they will also be working with young talent and creative jacks-of-all-trades who, in a spirit worthy of
DARK, aren’t afraid to stray off the beaten path.

DARK was founded in 2000 by Marnick Smessaert. Dark is a project driven by passion. Passion for design, innovation and lighting. And it’s turned out to be a passion that pays. The products of DARK are distributed in over 50 countries and DARK has won 52 design awards to date. DARK works with numerous external designers from Belgium and abroad. The think tank, offices and production facilities are located in Belgium. DARK is anything but grey. You love it or you hate it! And its legions of devotees continue to grow.
