The extremely versatile designs have a timeless look and are exclusively manufactured in Germany, combining the finest traditional craftsmanship with the highest standards in material, processing and sustainability. Steel, a recyclable material, forms the basis for all ECHTSTAHL products. Whether in combination with solid wood and high-quality felt made from merino wool or with a coloured powder coating – our recently founded company offers straightforward and unconventional furniture with a personal touch.

ECHTSTAHL director David Piel has a metal industry background, is a qualified steel worker and as such has many years’ experience with steel and innovative means of processing this material. This sturdy and resilient material is particularly sustainable as there are no limits to its reusability. ECHTSTAHL thoroughly selects suppliers by applying high quality standards in order to be able to offer timelessly beautiful and durable products with high-quality workmanship.
Commitment and responsibility: ECHTSTAHL are absolutely committed to sustainability. Apart from recyclable and 100% reusable steel, environmentally friendly and resource-saving materials are used for all products. For the “ES“ series as well as home accessories “Tik“, “Trik“ and “Trak“ for instance, the company has combined recycled stainless steel with wool felt, a renewable and entirely biodegradable natural material. This allows ECHTSTAHL to create design products with a timeless look that are sustainable due to the raw material and manufacturing process used. When it comes to choosing their designers, ECHTSTAHL are equally responsible: the company has made a conscious decision to work with young talents in order to support them and establish new approaches, manufacturing processes etc.
At present, the ECHTSTAHL Collection includes side furniture and wall shelving from the “ES“ series designed in house, the “Plateau“ shelving (design: Felix Klingmüller, 2014) as well as home accessories “Tik“ (clock), “Trik“ (newspaper rack) and “Trak“ (key rack) (design: jojorama produktgestaltung, 2014).
