Profile
Hoerr Schaudt is a Chicago-based firm of award-winning landscape architects. We are a unique design-only studio that combines dimensional thinking with innovative horticulture. Each design is a sophisticated response to three key elements; a deep understanding of the bio-region, the architecture of the associated buildings, and the people who inhabit these spaces. We complement a solid foundation in design with imaginative, fresh horticulture and particular attention to seasonality.
Hoerr Schaudt designs public and private landscapes throughout the United States and abroad. Award-winning projects include the vegetable garden green roof at Gary Comer Youth Center, the 40,000 square foot green roof at Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square, the environmental fountain and park design at Uptown Normal’s Circle, and residential projects designed with luminary architects, such as Robert A.M. Stern, Peter Gluck, and Sir Hugh Newell Jacobsen.
Firm partners Douglas Hoerr and Peter Lindsay Schaudt are Fellows of the American Society of Landscape Architects and each led highly-respected landscape architecture practices for nearly two decades before uniting their firms in 2008. Hoerr Schaudt is comprised of a talented staff of nearly 30 professionals with expertise in landscape architecture, architecture, horticulture, sustainability and LEED requirements.
