Llowarch Llowarch Architects (LLA) is a design led RIBA Chartered Architect’s practice based in London. The practice is gaining an increasingly strong reputation for intelligent and creative design solutions that satisfy their client’s unique requirements, often in challenging urban contexts or sensitive historic or landscape settings.
LLA’s work includes client advisory services, masterplanning, education, arts/cultural, commercial and residential developments, including private residential buildings and interiors.
Designs are informed by a thorough understanding of their clients needs and detailed development of their brief, offering added value through strategic, rational responses and a collaborative holistic approach that promotes environmentally and socially sustainable solutions. Projects are characterised by specific and finely detailed responses, combining practicality, beauty and conceptual rigour and reflecting an ongoing interest in composition of space, views and natural light, crafted use of materials and exceptional attention to detail.
LLA’s experience encompasses challenging briefs with complex budgeting and programming requirements, managed through a rigourous yet agile working method that ensures design integrity is maintained throughout the design process from concept through to detailing and construction.
Andrew and Nicola Llowarch are joint directors of the practice. The practice was established in 2001 the partners having worked together informally since graduating in 1991. Both gained experience in a range of leading architectural practices including David Chipperfield Architecs, MacCormac Jamieson Prichard, Sauerbruch Hutton Architects, West 8 Landscape Architects; Maccreanor + Lavington, and Stanton Williams. The practice has completed a number of projects within the education, and cultural sectors including projects at HM Tower of London, York Castle Museum, Leeds Art Gallery, and more recently, a couple of private galleries including a writing studio, & a recording studio, both in North London. The practice has also completed a number of bespoke projects for private residential clients.
LLA was one of 25 practices listed in the Next Generation Directory run by The Architecture Foundation and Pipers.
Andrew is also an accredited RIBA Client Design Advisor, an enabler for Glass-House Community-Led Design, a Design Council CABE Built Environment Expert, and was on the shortlisting panel for the RIBA awards, 2009. The directors have also taught throughout the UK, including Manchester Polytechnic, Leeds Metropolitan University, Oxford Brooks and University of Westminster.
