À propos de Metis Lighting
EN SAVOIR PLUS SUR METIS LIGHTING
Claudio Valènt, Marinella Patetta
Profile
Architects Marinella Patetta and Claudio Valént, both with a Master in Lighting Design and several years experience, set up the Metis Lighting company in 1989.
Metis deals exclusively with lighting design and the industrial design of lighting equipment. The combination of these activities gives the company its special characteristic. In fact, co-ordination of the different lighting problems in preparation of the architectural project gives rise to new lighting settings, the creation of which necessitates much research to find the most appropriate devices on the market or, if none exist, they must be specifically thought up and constructed.
Lighting planning for different areas, whether private or public, indoor or outdoor, each with visual needs, standards and specific restrictions, requires careful choice of the best devices and consequently produces a constant growth in know-how which is used for the design of new devices. Industrial design, therefore represents a natural outlet for this activity. Lighting equipment planning basically represents the combination of solid technical and aesthetic experience matured on site.
In the last few years the professional activity has been accompanied by didactic activity and research at university level, at the Faculty of Industrial Design, Polytechnic of Milan.
Reference Projects
Lighting Concept: De Beers (London), Dolce & Gabbana (Las Vegas, New York, Paris, Milan, London), Valentino (Bal Harbour, Milan).
Main Lighting Projects: Termini Rail Station (Rome) with Pietro Castiglioni, San Babila Square (Milan), Dolce & Gabbana Offices (Milan), Damiani (Milan), Missoni (Milan), B&B (Como).
