Materials Council has been founded jointly by Ian Hunter and Brad Turner, with Architonic as minority shareholder. The aim of this corporate link-up is to guarantee long-term co-operation, which will provide customers with a seamless service, ranging from inspiration via product research and product placement through to the point within the planning process where decisions on products are made. Digital tools can now be supplemented by individual consulting.
Architonic's involvement with Materials Council will enable it to extend its knowledge of the selection and decision-making phases that are relevant to manufacturers in relation to materials and products during the process of planning a construction project. This shared know-how will also flow into the development of further digital tools that will save architects a great deal of time and, by extension, money. For industry, this means that it can offer its products, materials and solutions in the best possible way during the decisive phases of a building project.
The driving forces behind the Materials Council are its founders and directors, Ian Hunter and Brad Turner. Both are highly qualified industrial designers, who have worked as materials researchers at the London office of the prestigious international architectural practice Foster + Partners. There they both developed standards that, today, architectural practices with worldwide operations need to fulfil in order not only to meet, but also to exceed, the growing requirements of international clients.
Brad Turner has worked in the fields of communications and business development for the two leading global design portals – Designboom in Milan and Dezeen in London. The founding team is supported by the expertise and experience of Architonic's 70-strong international team of specialists in the fields of management, marketing, IT and sales, made available specifically for the setting-up and ongoing development of Materials Council.
