The Modern Fan Co. was born of a singular intention: to design alternatives to the status quo. In doing so, we aim to produce ceiling fans that while keeping users COOL (as in comfortable), also address the aesthetic requirements of contemporary-minded DESIGN professionals and homeowners. Ron Rezek's career as a DESIGN entrepreneur and educator lends a rich and authentic heritage to Modern Fan and is ever present in our company culture. We DESIGN products rather than style them. Our goal is to remain above fashion and trends, and to continually provide products that are technically and artfully appealing. WHO WE ARE
The Modern Fan Co. originated the contemporary genre in the ceiling fan industry and is the only fan company exclusively committed to modern design. Our goal is to remain above fashion in our designs and to continually enhance our product offering, both technically and aesthetically. We plan to retain each design over the long term – the Stratos debuted in 1986 - and we aspire to produce ceiling fans that will be as relevant 20 years from now as they are today. This approach results in a relatively limited number of new introductions; however each is carefully designed, tooled and produced for a long life, both in the market and on your ceiling.
Over the years, we have developed products that meet the highest levels of energy efficiency. Our motors, blade designs and lighting solutions have established us as leaders in the industry in providing maximum air movement and lighting for the wattage consumed.
Our designer, Ron Rezek, has a long and successful career in contemporary lighting design for Ron Rezek Lighting and Artemide. As a result, Modern Fan products incorporate thoughtful, effective and energy-efficient lighting solutions.
Our commitment to excellence doesn't end with product design. We bring the same care and attention to detail that is inherent in all of our products to the operations of the Company and service to our customers. Our company is comprised of a "family" of individuals; each closely involved in all aspects of our business and collectively devoted to providing products and service that are second to none.
HOW CEILING FANS WORK
First, a confession: Fans don’t cool air; they just move it around.
When it’s warm, the blades of a counterclockwise-turning ceiling fan push air downward. Like a breeze on a summer day, this moving air makes you feel cooler by evaporating the moisture on your skin. This wind-chill effect can cause an 27-degree room to feel more like it’s 22 degrees. For this reason, there is no need to run a ceiling fan when no one is in the room.
Something else: Most people don’t think to turn on a ceiling fan when it’s cold inside, but this can actually warm up a room. Modern Fans have reversible motors, which means blades can easily change direction (clockwise) and push air up toward the ceiling. This redistributes the warm air that would otherwise be trapped near the ceiling and evens out the temperature in the room. Circulating the warm air also reduces condensation on windows.
Bottom line: Our fans use very little electricity to increase the efficiency of heating and cooling systems.
