When it came time for AMC Networks (AMC) to update its 10 floors of corporate headquarters, the American entertainment company called upon The Switzer Group to lead the multi-phase build-out. Consolidating, restacking, and standardizing AMC’s brand, the designers set out to create a fluid workspace for AMC and its staff, one that would also reflect the dynamic media company’s artistic, and eclectic culture. The workplace environment encompasses distinct networks branding characteristics, a multitude of collaborative settings, and various displays of original works.
The new space is inspired by the art deco vocabulary of 11 Penn Plaza juxtaposed with the contemporary culture of AMC Networks Productions. The AMC palette uses traditional materials with a contemporary approach. Creating a balance between open and closed workspaces, The Switzer Group designed a significant number of private offices —flanked by open work space — to establish a hierarchy within the network, encouraging professional growth and upward mobility within the organization.
