Hotel Budersand

Fine sandy beaches and tranquil dunes, roaring surf and Sylt celebrities: Germany's largest North Sea island never ceases to captivate its visitors. Since May 2009, Sylt's attractions have included the exclusive Budersand Hotel Golf & Spa on the southern tip of the island. The ensemble of buildings is situated on the outskirts of the village of Hörnum – embedded between the dunes and its own golf course. The high standard of the interior design adds to the exclusivity of the hotel. Hansgrohe SE helped to achieve this high standard by furnishing the bathrooms and the spa area with collections from the company's Axor designer brand.

The Budersand's special status is apparent even from a distance: built on a cleared area that formerly housed a barracks compound, it has no immediate neighbours apart from the North Sea waves and sandpipers. The architecture contrasts with the predominant Sylt style: no thatched roof but still very much in harmony with nature. The louvered facade is made of cedarwood, bleached by the sun and North Sea wind. Terraces and loggias reflect the superior standard of design. 21 rooms and suites are spread over four buildings, which also accommodate restaurant and spa areas.

At the centre of the spacious wellness oasis is a swimming pool which features colourful lighting and offers an unrestricted view of the ocean. One particular highlight is the 'experience shower': this was furnished using the Axor Starck ShowerCollection. Its centrepiece is the Axor Starck ShowerHeaven, measuring almost a full square metre. Hamburg interior designer Jan Wichers selected the Axor Citterio collection for the bathrooms. "The mixers, with their design vocabulary of straight lines and a reduction to the essential, go really well with the overall concept of the hotel", said the interior designer.
