Villa Necchi Campiglio

The lighting project for Villa Necchi has been realized in order to preserve the atmosphere of a private home.


Three different types of lighting were developed, in function of the various functional requirements, especially in the first floor, which is the heart of the house:

A. the historical light, which is given by the original lighting fixtures restored and improved with new light sources;

B. additional lighting, realized with lighting fixtures hidden among the furnishings and architecture;

C. a light to the art, in which the accent lighting underlines the most important and significant works of the house and Gian Ferrari collection.

In the basement and attic the environments have been adapted to functional needs ranging from spaces for conferences, dinners, or exhibitions, and the new lighting follows this new trend as well. The project by Studio Balestreri Lighting Design puts together the diffuse fluorescent light for functional purposes with a spotlight effect to enhance the atmosphere.


The project interests also the outdoor lighting, which recreates a moonlight effect around the garden, an accent light on some of the trees, the statues, and in some significant coins of the garden.
The café, bookshop and the tennis court complete the experience through a scenic but always functional lighting, guaranteeing the right combination of technical requirements and the aesthetic and historical ones.

(Villa Necchi Campiglio was built between 1932 and 1935 by the milanese architect Piero Portaluppi (1888 - 1967))
