Contemporary Scenography at the New Sushi “Theatre” in Milan Taiyo Sushi Restaurant in Milan chooses Billiani chairs
Grandeur, elegance and internationality are among the winning ingredients at the Taiyo Sushi Restaurant, whose popularity has steadily grown since March last year.
As the latest addition to the Wu Taiyo group, it required an interior design project that could communicate the originality of the fusion cuisine at first glance by creating a sophisticated and immediately perceptible balance between tradition and innovation. Synergy was thus reached between architect and scenographer Maurizio Lai and Billiani, the historic Friulian company specialized in the manufacture of chairs for the contract sector. Together they became accomplices in a design intervention in which even the smallest details were taken into consideration.
The Croissant chair, with its striking formal stability, was chosen to accommodate the restaurant guests, both in the large central room and in the two secondary rooms. Croissant has truly become an icon at Billiani. Designed by Emilio Nanni, it is characterized by a beech wood frame reinforced by an elegant feature beneath the seat, which enhances the flexible beauty of the wood used. The chairs and armchairs chosen for the interior feature padded seats and backrests, and are upholstered in black and beige leather.
The LAI STUDIO project seeks to build a dialogue between light and materials, and this aspect is immediately recognizable upon entering the restaurant. It describes an elite and stylish metropolis, choosing to employ a global aesthetic language. Inside, the wire mesh ceiling, glass and wooden wall coverings and the aesthetic of the beech wood Croissant chairs combine diverse styles and genres to create an impressive scenic effect. This is further amplified by the bright abstract decorations that occupy the walls.
