From the beginning on, these clients – a young family – have made two demands: Their house should be constructed from wood and subsequently win the Lower Austrian prize in this discipline. We willingly accect a challenge like this.
The property is part of a grown settlement, but very large. In the past, the former presbytery was situated here. The dimension protects and establishes a loose distance to the neighbours.
Respectively, the house does not take any direct reference to the existing buildings but is orientated solely at the topography, the dimensions of the building site, the requirements of the owners and of course at the sun.
Thus it is placed quite free-standing in the middle. A small house with a big rooftop. Apart from the bottom plate (there is no cellar), the sanitation and the staircase only wood has been used. The floor plan is simple and robust. The circulation such that upper and ground floor can be separated at any time.
This brings a certain flexibility which is not only very important to the clients and us, but particularly essential for detached houses in order not to – as it often is the case – become too big and inflexible all too fast.
