A tiny cottage in a leafy eastern suburb of Brisbane has been thoughtfully extended, with strong references to the existing forms. With an asymmetrical gable roof facing the street, the cottage consisted of three rooms and a long, enclosed verandah. The existing rooms have been retained but given new functions and the verandah has been opened up to take advantage of the northern aspect and city views.
On the side and at the rear, the addition of bedrooms, kitchen and outdoor room provide contemporary amenity to complement the pre war features and charm of the cottage. The outdoor room is positioned to become a private retreat and capture eastern breezes and distant views through the trees.
