The Excelsior Hotel Gallia reflects the glittering essence of sophisticated Milan. Opening its doors in 1932 as Palazzo Gallia, it was once a touchstone of hospitality and one of the most prestigious hotels in the city of Milan.
Inaugurated on 29 February, 1932 and reopened in 2015, the luxurious hotel, known as Palazzo Gallia, has been completely renovated by architect Marco Piva, with the intention of “creating a place of excellence linked to the history of the city of Milan, a special place that integrates and enhances the values of architecture, design, costume and fashion.”
Marco Piva’s ambitious renovation project breathes new life into this historic building, once an architectural jewel of the Belle Epoque, by perfectly blending its original features with contemporary aesthetics. The historic Art Deco façade has been restored and is now joined by a new hyper-modern steel and glass wing.
Among its 235 rooms, the hotel boasts 53 suites, including the prestigious Katara, the epitome of luxury and elegance. Measuring 1,000 square metres, and offering two terraces, four bedrooms and a private spa, the Katara has been awarded top prizes in Italy and worldwide, such as ‘World's Leading Hotel Suite’ at the World Travel Awards 2015.
Linea Light Group products were chosen to illuminate part of this majestic room, as well as the restaurant on the seventh floor, bringing the quality of Made in Italy style to this Milanese Hotel.
