PLATINUM WASHBASINS FOR HIGH-CLASS PROJECTS
Bathrooms from Villeroy&Boch in The Fontenay hotel
The five-star superior hotel The Fontenay was designed by the Hamburg-based architect Jan Störmer from Störmer, Murphy and Partners. With his timelessly modern yet strikingly organic design, the architect has paid tribute to both the modernity and the long history of the well-known port city of Hamburg. The hotel’s exclusive private bathrooms are equipped with elegant surface-mounted washbasins from Villeroy&Boch. Situated in a beautifully landscaped park, The Fontenay hotel is surrounded by historical, predominantly white buildings from the post-war period or the late 19th century.
ARCHITECTURE AND CIRCULAR FORMS
The hotel’s unique environment inspired Störmer to construct the building following the principles of Feng Shui with circular shapes being the main architectural feature. The circles merge in the middle part of the building where the elevators are located. Two courtyards open up to the left and right, creating a closed atrium which reaches a height of more than 88 feet. Guests can enjoy a 320° view of the Hamburg skyline from the Fontenay Bar on the sixth floor as well as from the large infinity pool at the Fontenay Spa which covers more than 10,000 square feet. The Lakeside gourmet restaurant is located on the seventh floor.
LUXURIOUS INTERIOR DESIGN
The concept of circular shapes has been implemented throughout the building: The 130 guest rooms and suites are characterized by a trapezoid layout, semicircular walls and floor-to-ceiling panoramic window panels. As a result, the rooms are flooded with light and nature seems to be a part of the furnishings. High ceilings and a large outside area create a feeling of space.
The interior design by the Berlin-based interior designers Aukett + Heese features a warm colour scheme: Soft turquoise, light blue and shades of beige or royal blue define the look and feel of the rooms. The furnishings are complemented by elegant leather, fine fabrics and wood, unique designer furniture and decorative objects as well as original works of art by the Peruvian painter Antonio Máro.
EYE-CATCHING BATHROOMS BY VILLEROY & BOCH
Light natural sandstone creates a captivating and luxurious effect in the hotel’s bathrooms. This effect is complemented by surface-mounted washbasins from various Villeroy & Boch collections, including Loop & Friends, Architectura and Subway 2.0. With their delicate shapes, Loop & Friends washbasins turn the washing area into a real eye-catcher, particularly with the platinum basins designed especially for The Fontenay. The Architectura range, on the other hand, features a classic design with a contemporary twist.
The rimless DirectFlush toilets from the Subway 2.0 series impress with functionality and versatility. Thanks to their innovative rimless design, DirectFlush WCs provide a maximum flushing effect with minimum water consumption, allowing for optimum hygiene and more efficient cleaning.
