The fact that Freifrau is bringing poetry into the programme for the first time to present a textile collection may seem unusual at first – but it fits wonderfully with the new Garden Eden fabric design, itself evoking Baroque flower paintings.

'Take comfort in the certainty of uncertainty,' goes the poem, 'Inhale the new / Welcome the ever-changing seasons of nature, of life / the ever-changing you.' The design for the pattern of the Gobelin fabric comes from Christian Trzaska, who previously developed another fabric for Freifrau . Trzaska is not only a skateboarding friend of the twin brothers and sons of Freifrau founder Hansjörg Helweg, Marc and Niklas Helweg, but also a tattoo artist. For the earlier fabric design Gobelin Oasis , Trzaska first created an oil painting, which was then transformed into an opulent fabric by the Belgian textile company Meisterwerke.

Just like his first design, the new fabric beckons the imagination to enter a lush plant world. For Garden Eden , Trzaska now focuses less on the mystique of wild and untouched nature, and has instead created a still life – a bouquet of tulips, peonies, lilies of the valley and many other types of flowers. The beautiful thing: the flowers depicted here never have to wilt, but can forever adorn, enchant and awaken longings.

The new textile design can be used for the Ona and Ona Curved Armchair collections by Sebastian Herkner, for Leya by Hoffmann Kahleyss Design in various chair versions, as well as for their Amelie collection of seating furniture. Those who favour more zestful and lively pieces can opt for the Leya Wingback Swingseat . Seating furniture covered with Gobelin Eden becomes a real eye-catcher in combination with other upholstery fabrics in intensive hues, but grey also goes perfectly with the floral motif and looks particularly distinguished when used in combination.
