Wouldn’t it be a tragedy for a wedding planner, if, having beautifully laid the table with white flowers, fine silverware and crystal, they then had to combine it with cheap, plastic plates because there were no alternatives. And wouldn't every gardener despair if paths through lush flower beds and wild meadows were only possible with concrete?

These are absurd ideas, but which are actual reality in another profession: How often are the sophisticated design concepts of interior designers and room planners ruined in the end by bulky monitors and mouse-grey screens? To counter this challenge and in the spirit of the phrase ‘as you can see, there’s nothing to see’, the company NOVIS produces ultra-modern monitor technology that blends perfectly into their respective space.

You can describe it as elegant restraint or ingenious understatement: In any case, NOVIS Technik + Design’s virtually unrivalled range is a real innovation. Because adapting completely to the ideas of others is a service that has become something of a rarity in society today.

NOVIS’ success story is also unusual, because it begins with a near collapse. This small company had previously specialised in networks until business started to go badly, to the point of even almost going out of business in the early 1990s. When NEC then brought flat-screen technology onto the market, the plan was born to make modern technology that was aesthetically flexible enough to harmoniously integrate it into furniture.

And this is what NOVIS has continued to do to this day. Their Design Monitors are high-quality models made of glass, aluminium and stainless steel, which can be integrated into any interior in terms of colour and surface structures and without any functional compromise – regardless of whether the NOVIS team is involved from the planning phase, or finding solutions to concepts that have already been completed.

The NOVIS LOFT series will soon celebrate its 25th anniversary and still looks as fresh and elegant as on its first day – on the wall, on the table or as a built-in unit, in combination or on its own. And the fact that there are no cables to be seen is almost a matter of course, with the concept of complete integration with the design.

The NOVIS LOFT desktop is particularly popular in public customer areas – at receptions, advice centres or service points. As a rotatable monitor or in the twin version – which has a second display on the back of the monitor – makes visible to customers only what the adviser wants to reveal. The twin model is also a great way to create a good atmosphere in advance as an advertising board with a welcome greeting.

On the wall, the integrated NOVIS LOFT mount is a perfect solution for presenting and the exchange of information. What is displayed on the monitors can be controlled individually and who is able to see it can be restricted by way of a privacy screen. With the precise multi-touch function, the impressive mural becomes an interactive module.

The NOVIS FLO EVO, a tablet-style monitor, is a versatile all-rounder. Whether installed permanently or mobile, NOVIS FLO EVO is particularly suitable for sales and catering. But the star of the NOVIS LOFT range is still NOVIS LOFT fold, which has made it to the executive floors of many renowned brands.

The table monitor perhaps best sums up the NOVIS philosophy: it remains invisible until it is needed – comparable to Eugene Allen, the famous butler who served eight American presidents with his reserved presence and stylish perfection and was celebrated for it. In order to allow NOVIS LOFT fold to be kept in service for a long time, NOVIS does not utilise any extraneous electronics, rather keeping the folding mechanism purely mechanical.

Perhaps it’s because NOVIS has worked its way up from the bottom – with a clear vision, enormous quality and creativity – that the company continues to represent good, old-fashioned values today: reliability, solid craftsmanship and first-class materials. And the fact that from the very beginning, NOVIS has only worked with local companies and suppliers in order to keep distances short make the company a role model in terms of sustainability.

With a small team of only eight people, NOVIS now fulfils customer requests from Swiss banks and trendy sports labels, from international luxury hotels and consulting firms, and at trade fairs and in temporary customer centres. Instead of name-dropping, however, the team from Rottenburg am Neckar prefers to be a little more discreet – just like Eugene Allen.
