White lines: REGENT LIGHTING

Less is more – as obvious and clear as this may sound in principle, it is often a lot more difficult to implement in reality, especially in product design. The reduction of a product to its essentials requires absolute perfection, because the omission of unnecessary elements naturally focuses the eye upon the core form and function of the object. And for this reason, behind these supposedly simple things, usually lie innovative ideas that have been perfected over the course of often long development processes.

The Swiss luminaire manufacturer Regent Lighting is known for such innovations, utilising pioneering technologies and the latest materials. The result is outstandingly designed and highly functional luminaires such as the Purelite lighting system. Their appearance is simple and unobtrusive, their installation straightforward, the lighting quality impressive – and with innovations such as this, Regent Lighting demonstrates exactly the successful synthesis of reduction and perfection mentioned above.

And the Basel-based company has now taken the subject of reduction a step further and added a particularly slimline version to the proven Purelite product family, which offers completely new possibilities in terms of application and installation. Purelite Slim is the flattest and slimmest office luminaire currently available on the market. Not only is its lighting quality remarkable, the ultra-flat luminaire unit itself, measuring just 35mm, is too.

A narrow, continuous strip of light up to 19m long, Purelite Slim illuminates rooms and ceilings without shadows or, where required, allows different accents to be set by means of targeted lighting. Its radical restraint, perfected design, elegance, lightness and minimalism make a strong impression.

The uses and applications of Purelite Slim are both versatile and flexible, partly due to a purist design which can be easily integrated into a wide variety of environments, and partly to its ease of installation. Whereas conventional recessed ceiling luminaires have to be planned from the outset, Purelite Slim can be retrofitted at no great expense, as it does not reach the reinforcement area in concrete ceilings, making it particularly suitable in the case of renovations or retrofitting projects.

The light line is available in three versions and thus covers a wide range of needs. For offices, conference rooms, entrance areas and corridors, Purelite Slim and Purelite Slim Office, the two room-lighting versions with ceiling illumination, are most suitable. The direct-beam Purelite Slim D version, on the other hand, directs light downwards in order to illuminate specific areas in a more targeted manner.

Regent Lighting offers four mounting options, each of which creates a different lighting effect within the space. In addition to the recessed ceiling luminaire mentioned above, Purelite Slim is also available as a ceiling-mounted luminaire, as a channel lighting system, and, with the appropriate accessories, as a pendant version. As with some other Purelite products, the new RUN and RUN+ diffusers can also be integrated into Purelite Slim Office and Purelite Slim D.

While Purelite Slim is designed for office use, the luminaire offers a wide range of other application options. Its minimalist and slim design makes the light line the ideal luminaire for hotels, restaurants and even the home. Without pushing itself into the foreground, it pleasantly illuminates corridors, dining and living areas, presenting the workstation, cooking island or dining table in the perfect light.
