Vienna-based architecture festival TURN ON rings in its 16th year with an ambitious, wide-ranging lecture program spread across two-and-a-half days beginning Thursday 8 March.
In our rapidly developing time, the framework conditions and thus the goals of building are also changing. Today, the world of architecture presents itself diverse and moves like a kaleidoscope. The selected program is a snapshot of their most interesting particles.
Anna Ramos, the director of Fundació Mies van der Rohe in Barcelona, opens the festival. This year's keynote speaker, Kristiaan Borret, was the municipal architect of Antwerp before assuming this role for the greater region of Brussels.
TURN ON PARTNER – The Dialogues
Today the world is no longer uniform, and this applies in particular to building. The building process differentiates itself, the individual facets of this process are highly different and intrinsically complex. This is documented by the program track TURN ON PARTNER. The lectures at the interface of business and architecture span a wide range and also focus on classical topics of architecture, such as the facade, materials and light. The lecturers from the different disciplines explain the explosive issues using innovative reference examples.

×TURN ON – The Projects
In a creative way, architects respond to the changing conditions of the time and explore the possibilities for their designs in new ways. This forms the basis of Austria's productive architectural landscape. The program channel TURN ON will present current highlights, based on ambitious design approaches. The presented residential buildings range from compact construction to irregular row construction. The second part of the program includes construction tasks such as the Austrian embassy in Bangkok, hospital complexes and educational buildings. The talk will be devoted to strategies and visions of urban planning. Guests from abroad come from Belgium resp. Flanders.
