ZEITRAUM accomplishes a lot in one sitting with their OKITO chairs, which, although made of solid wood, remain sustainable, lightweight and affordable.
A chair isn't just a chair. Its unique character results from a combination of materials, construction and design. So what then could a simple chair look like? One that doesn't go out of its way to attract attention – and yet has a restrained elegance – and ideally is multi-purpose? A chair which meets the highest standards in terms of design value, skilled craftsmanship and material quality?

×Like the solid-wood OKITO from ZEITRAUM, for example. With its minimalist design it offers maximum comfort and durability, and at only 5 kilos, it is both lightweight and affordable. Designed as complete product family, it is also available as the OKITO STOOL footstool or the OKITO BAR bar stool and complemented by the matching OKITO TABLE standard table and high table.
At the core of the OKITO chair are its ergonomically shaped seat and backrest. Both elements are made of solid wood and are discreetly screwed to the chair’s frame, making the connections invisible from its upper side. When occupied, the backrest smoothly gives way, springing back and following the body's rotational movements. With OKITO, ZEITRAUM has not only pushed the limits of what is feasible concerning material reduction and deformability of wood. Each component cleverly exploits the properties of the material from which it is made.
Thanks to the practical OKITO TROLLEY stacking trolley this attractive chair is also suitable for more extensive seating requirements. Dismantled into its individual parts OKITO can be shipped flat-packed, significantly reducing packaging material and freight volume.
With all that OKITO is and can do, it’s remarkable that it’s design radiates such a Zen-like calm.
