What does a chair look like that fits in a maximum number of spatial situations? How can a bed be both robustly constructed and light and open in its appearance? The makers of Bartmann Berlin find answers in close exchange with each other or with external designers. The result is a reduced contemporary language of forms which isn’t always uniform but which presents a common attitude: It’s a mixture of curiosity, confidence in one’s own experience and inspiration from artisan tradition and manufacturing that defines the clear signature of Bartmann Berlin.

The design label Bartmann Berlin combines conception, design and production of furniture and small series all under one roof since 2007. At their head office, an old factory building in Berlin-Kreuzberg, design comes upon a time-tested joinery while simplicity meets attention to detail.
The three founders Lasse Schnack, Sebastian Kunath und Robert Zeise develop and produce furniture and fitments that are characterised by artisan tradition and quality as well as distinguished by uncompromising simpleness in its language of forms. From time to time these qualities are supplemented by a bit of humour.

Bartmann products are companions for life. They are always functional and they never lack character. Proximity to the product is thereby an important aspect of the company’s philosophy: In cooperation with local suppliers and partners Bartmann Berlin guarantees a resource-saving and sustainable manufacturing process. From the initial idea pending its completion, each piece of furniture is accompanied throughout the whole production. This allows for individual adaptations and single-unit production upon consultation. Next to its own collection the design label also realises individual projects in the range of interior construction and exhibition architecture.
