BCQ arquitectura barcelona strives to make cities more human, sustainable and efficient creating architectural and urban projects that combine sensitivity and intelligence with the environment. The final goal of creating projects is to make them real. For this reason, BCQ considers the quality of their construction techniques, materials and buildings to be of utmost importance.
David Baena and Toni Casamor set up BCQ in 1995. Subsequently architects Manel Peribáñez and Maria Taltavull joined as partners. Today BCQ arquitectura barcelona has become an international firm specializing in architecture, landscape and urbanism projects.
Their founders have developed wide teaching experience in national and international schools of architecture such as the ETSAV-UPC and ESARQ-UIC in Barcelona, the ETH in Zürich, the Strelka Institute in Moscow and the McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
BCQ is invited regularly to speak about their work in venues and media in Europe and America and their projects have been issued in numerous national and international publications. In 2013, their work was showcased in Berlin and Frankfurt under the exhibition Architektonische Landschaften – Architectural Landscapes.
BCQ has recently won the First Prize Ciutat de Barcelona and the First Prize Catalunya Construcció for the work Sant Gervasi-Joan Maragall Library. In 2013 the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Alt Maresme received the MIPIM Awards 2013 Best Industrial & Logistics Development.
Monographic books on their work are Reflections (2008), TC Cuadernos vol.105 - BCQ BAENA CASAMOR Arquitectura 1996-2012 and Library of Light (2014).
Biography
Toni Casamor | CEO, Co-founder. Architect
Architect specialized in Urban planning graduated from UPC- ETSAV in 1986, co-founder of BCQ arquitectura barcelona together with David Baena. He has developed wide teaching experience at national and international schools of architecture as the ETH (Zürich), the Strelka Institute (Moscow) and the McGill University in Montreal (Canada). His built work includes the Plaza Villa de Madrid in Barcelona, Marina Port Forum Barcelona 2004, the Sports Hall in Olot (Girona), the Social Security Office Building in Old City of Barcelona, the Joan Maragall Library in Barcelona and the Public Service Hall in Zugdidi (Georgia). Among BCQ’s awards stand out the First Prize Ciutat de Barcelona 2014 and First Prize 2015 Catalunya Construcció Awards for the Joan Maragall Library and the First Prize 2013 MIPIM for the Wastewater Treatment Plant in North Maresme (Barcelona). Toni Casamor has been President of the Catalonian Architects Chamber from 2010 to 2013.

Architect graduated from UPC- ETSAV in 1989, co-founder of BCQ together with Toni Casamor. Professor of Construction at the Catalonia International University School of Architecture ESARQ-UIC since 1999, he has also been invited to give lectures and participate as guest professor in main Catalonia Schools of Architecture and abroad such as the South Anahuac University in Mexico City and the Facoltà di Architettura di Alghero in Sardinia (Italy).
David Baena is currently co-Director of the Technical Area and Member of Faculty Council at the ESARQ-UIC in Barcelona. His built work includes the Marina Port Forum Barcelona 2004, the Sports Hall in Olot (Girona), the Social Security Office Building in Old City of Barcelona, the Joan Maragall Library in Barcelona. Among BCQ’s awards stand out the First Prize Ciutat de Barcelona 2014 and First Prize 2015 Catalunya Construcció Awards for the Joan Maragall Library and the First Prize 2013 MIPIM for the Wastewater Treatment Plant in North Maresme (Barcelona).

Manel Peribáñez is Architect graduated from the International University of Architecture in Barcelona (2002) and internal Auditor of Integrated Management Systems for Quality, Environment and Ecodesign (QUALINEO, 2010). Founding partner of ARTNEV Group (digital graphic arts), he is also author of the blog DOCOMOP specialized in architectural construction details.
Collaborator architect in BCQ since 2002, he became associated partner in 2006 working as Architecture Department Leader. Manel Peribáñez has been visiting professor at EPSEB-UPC (Polytechnical School of Construction of Barcelona). Since January 2016 he is Professor of Construction at the International University of Architecture (ESARQ-UIC) in Barcelona.
Maria Taltavull | Architect Partner

Architect specialized in restoration graduated from Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB-UPC) in 2004. Maria Taltavull started her collaboration in BCQ in 2002, and in 2008 she became associated partner. Currently she is Architecture department leader. During 2006-2007 she was associate professor of architectural projects at Facoltà di Architettura di Alghero, Università degli Studi di Sassari (Sardinia, Italy).
