Founded by Mr. LAM Wai Ming in 1999, Design Systems Ltd is a versatile interior and industrial design studio that provides consultancy services in the areas of corporate office, branding and commercial retail, hospitality and restaurant, public space and urban furniture, exhibition, signage and art installation design. It is based in Hong Kong with a branch office in Shenzhen, China.
With in-depth technical know-how and extensive construction experience, Design Systems Ltd has completed challenging and successful projects for high-profile corporate clients in Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas. Executed with commitment to high quality, professionalism and attention to detail, the majority of its projects have won over 100 international design awards.
Biography
LAM Wai Ming (Founder & Director)
Born in Hong Kong, Ming graduated with BA (Interior Design) and PgD (Design Management & Design Analysis) from Hong Kong Polytechnic University as the winner of "Best Interior Design Graduate" and "Project of the Year". After graduation, he worked in the field of architecture on large-scale projects including Hong Kong International Airport. In 1999, he set up interior design practice Design Systems Ltd, which now holds studios in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Apart from interior design, Ming also enjoys doing product, furniture and industrial design. His various kinds of projects have won him over 100 awards so far, among which recent trophies include "Best 10 Interior Designers 2007-2010" honoured by Taiwan Interior Design Award, Chinese Society of Interior Designers (CSID), "Best Design Companies" from China Interior Design Awards 2015 organized by China Institute of Interior Design (CIID), as well as "Best Hotel" and "Best Restaurant" in both Global Excellence Awards 2015 and Best of Asia Pacific Design Awards 2015 organized by International Interior Design Association (IIDA). Apart from project works, Ming has also taught at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Art School. His articles and theoretical columns has been published in design magazines and websites.
