MAGGIORI INFORMAZIONI SU DIEGO GRANESE
Diego Granese, architect and designer, lives and works in Salerno.
Since 1990 he has worked free lance, using his knowledge of architecture and attending laboratories and workshops where he acquired great skill and expertise in the use of materials.
In 2000 he founded the Granese Architecture & Design Studio, an interdisciplinary workshop that provides comprehensive design services for selected customers.
He has always conceived elements of design for his own architectural works, but it was in 2003 that he debuted on the international scene at the Salone Satellite in Milan where he presented various prototypes of chairs. On that occasion he started a collaboration with the Spanish company Frajumar. It was with this company that he participated in the 2003 “XXI Concurso Internacional de dise96o cDIM”, the international design competition held in Valencia, where he won the professional category with his ONDA relax chair.
In February 2004 the chair that won the Valencia competition was selected and presented at ARCO, the International Contemporary Art Show held in Madrid in March. That same chair was also selected for an important Spanish film set.
Once more selected for the Salone Satellite 2004, in April the Granese Design Studio presented three new prototypes: the IPPOCAMPO chaise longue, the LIBERA lighting system and the MORSA multi-purpose container. These products drew public interest and critical acclaim with many international design journals including him as one of the most interesting of the up-and-coming designers. His pieces evoke surprise and emotions in the public and this is the key to their design. The year 2004 once more saw him play a foremost role with the products presented in the ADI Index 2004, at BIO 19 – the Biennial Industrial Design Show in Ljubljana, Slovenia and at the furniture show in Valencia where Frajumar presented some of his other designs.
On September 16, 2004, at the "Triennale di Milano" his ONDA chair received an "Honorable Mention" from the judges of the "XX Compasso d’Oro" competition, and thus entered the "Collezione Storica del Compasso d'Oro", the historic collection of the best Italian design products.
