Company
Based in Bielefeld, FSM has been a well-known and renowned manufacturer of upholstered furniture for decades. Here we develop and selectively market high-quality seating furniture worldwide. From our very beginning, FSM has attached special importance to seating comfort that is as perfected and durable as possible. FSM products are now, without exception, characterised by additional useful design-oriented functions which emphasise comfort, are geared to the user and offer our customers much relaxation and enjoyment. Most of these functions are generally not seen at first glance.
For production, FSM makes use of the production location of its parent company, de Sede, in Switzerland. This production facility, which is superior in terms of quality and geared to craftsmanship, is known beyond the borders of Switzerland and an additional guarantor for quality, stability and durability.
History
FSM was founded in the town of Sulzbach (Baden-Württemberg) as a family-operated business by the Frank Family, where it was successfully built up and expanded over two generations. Furniture history was made there a long time ago with the first design-oriented functional armchair. After the sweeping success of that armchair, the special significance of functions in seating furniture was recognized as an essential quality characteristics and consistently further developed over the course of decades. Today every piece of furniture from the FSM organisation is characterised by additional special functions, which in their expression are unique and market-leading. This is how FSM products differed from the many copycats on the market.
In 2000 FSM was taken over by de Sede, the worldwide leading Swiss premium upholstery brand. Our production was first moved there, too, as have our administrative departments in the meantime. Our company headquarters were moved to Bielefeld (North Rhine Westphalia). From there, the independence of our very successful product development and selective marketing policy still continues today. These were perfect preconditions for successfully combining and consistently further expanding upon our high standards in seating comfort with those in the functionality of the furniture. Since that time sales of our products have grown far above the average for the industry. And year for a year we manage again and again to beat everything that has come before on the seating furniture market.
Our philosophy
The FSM philosophy has always been based on the principle of quality before quantity. Never bowing to the whims of ephemeral fashion, we have always held on to solid and lasting values. We develop seating that does more than merely look good. Virtually every product contains a small technical sensation that goes way beyond the bounds of simple design to make a contribution towards providing the ultimate in comfort. Although we cling to the tried and tested in our manufacturing processes, innovation is one of the crucial forces behind our success.
