Biography
Glenn Kinnersley, Partner & Co-Founder
Glenn co-founded Kinnersley Kent Design with business partner Mick Kent in 1990. Since its inception, Glenn and Mick have led the company in creating award-winning retail and leisure design experiences ranging from bespoke one-off boutiques to leading department stores and food halls around the world. It was this clarity of vision and pursuit of excellence that formed the foundation of Kinnersley Kent Design.
Glenn has particular expertise in department store, duty free, food hall and retail fashion design, having creatively and strategically led the Fortnum & Mason, Historic Royal Palaces, Desa, Mint Velvet, Jaeger and P&O Ferries teams.
Glenn passionately believes that creative design is at the heart of creating and delivering a holistic retail experience, and is still actively involved in helping our clients appreciate the profound difference it can make. Glenn has served on several creative awards judging panels, and presented the 'Hall of Fame' retail awards at this year's World Retail Congress.
Mick Kent, Partner & Co-Founder
Mick and co-founder Glenn remain at the helm of Kinnersley Kent Design, nurturing client relationships and ensuring creative excellence. Mick is driven by an enthusiasm to work with progressive and market leading businesses on work that exceeds expectations and pushes boundaries.
He has worked on award winning projects in the UK and internationally with clients including House of Fraser, The East India Company, Albert Roux, Mercedes Benz, Boots, Mihyar, Sports Corner, Pure Gold and Kamal Osman Jamjoom Group. His expertise, particularly in food hall, department store and fashion retailing, means clients benefit from an in-depth understanding that can only be gained from first-hand problem solving with many of the best retailers in the world.
Mick is the driving force behind the opening of the Dubai studio and divides his time between London and the Middle East. He is a regular conference speaker and often appears on industry discussion panels, including on The Power of Heritage at the GREAT Festival of Creativity in China in 2015, which he attended as a representative of British design; and at the Leaders in Design Summit in Dubai in 2015.
Paul McElroy, Partner
Paul heads up the studio in Dubai and is leading Kinnersley Kent Design into its next phase of growth across the Middle East. Paul joined the agency in 1996 and became a partner in 2005. He is totally immersed in the world of retail and leisure design, advising and leading strategic and creative development at board level. Paul’s clients include Emaar, Carluccio’s, Bateel, Eagle Hills, Aloft Hotels, Landmark Group and Waitrose.
As client champion, Paul continually inspires great design by challenging the team to commit to the highest standards and to deliver on the finer details. His leadership can be recognised throughout every Kinnersley Kent Design project in the last few years, and has become synonymous with the agency's brand of intelligent design.
Paul regularly contributes to the press, specifically on retail interior design and interior architecture, and is a judge at the Commercial Interior Design Awards2016.
Jill Higgins, Partner
Jill leads a range of client projects, from large department stores such as ABC in Beirut and House of Fraser in Abu Dhabi, to Marks & Spencer in the UK, and developing stand-alone fashion boutique concepts such as the hugely commercially successful Mint Velvet womenswear brand, Fenn Wright Manson, Ellen Tracy and Heidi Klein.
Jill has particular experience in working with brands from the initial strategic stages right through to completion on site. She brings a level of creativity and understanding of the design process that sets her apart from her peers, and continually takes time out to research the global world of design.
Jill became a Partner in 2014. Prior to joining the agency in 2008, she spent eight years as lead designer on a variety of museums and exhibition projects across the Middle East.
Jill is passionate about all aspects of both design and architecture. She regularly comments in the design press and sits on critique panels for educational institutions including the Royal College of Art and Nottingham Trent University. Working closely with students, Jill nurtures and directs the most talented graduates through our studios to ensure we always maintain a fresh perspective in our work.
