Profile
Rejecting the separation between buildings and their interiors, Luis Pons creates concepts from the inside out, thinking always in terms of systems. He transforms the simple lines – its volumes and voids – into opportunities for visual cross ventilation, a natural flow of light and energy.
Fluid transitions between interiors and exteriors emphasize an intimate integration with the natural settings. More than simply inanimate recipients of admiration, spaces are meant to be fully experienced, fully lived. Interiors provide privacy, but also open us to new views, and express the unique personalities and memories of their inhabitants while inviting them to discover more about themselves and the landscape that surrounds them.
The unifying thread in Luis Pons’ work is reverence for the integrity of materials and space, and respect for the energy of the people who inhabit the environments he creates.
“I am interested in design that really speaks to people who want to engage in a dialogue with it, design whose ultimate purpose is to translate the context, needs and aspirations that created it.” - Luis Pons
